Sparkles of Hope

I am so excited about our 'Sparkles of Hope' Cancer Awareness Bracelets. They were designed for the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre, and a portion of the proceeds goes directly for support and care of patients and their families.

These bracelets are made of Swarovski Crystals and sterling silver components. There are 20 colored crystals - each color represents a different form of cancer. The inside label of the gift box identifies what form of cancer each color represents. They are made in three different colors (using 4mm, 5mm or 6mm crystals). Special requests are also honored.

These bracelets would never have been possible without the dedicated work of many people - my sister, Maria; the fantastic volunteers from the Placentia and Clarenville areas; the staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation; our talented spokesperson, Tara Oram; and others who have offered so much valued encouragement.

East Meets West Expo, Mount Pearl

Hi,

I was cleaned out of a lot of my stock between the Clarenville Day's Celebrations and the weekend in Placenti. I am not complaining! I have to get really busy this week to fill orders and to produce new stock for next weekend.

The drilled beach glass pendants and earrings were a big hit! I need to order more sterling silver bails to make sure that I have enough. This is a busy time. Again, I am not complaining!! There is so much to be done.

Contact me if you have any questions.

New Drilled Beach Glass!!!

Hi,

I am so pleased that all of the work and effort have paid off - the drilled beach glass pieces are gorgeous!!!! I have sorted through the glass pieces and picked out some that would look nice and I am so enthusiastic about the results! I remember the day that I picked the cobalt blue piece off the beach. It was so beautiful. I wonder what kind of bottle it came from. It is too thin for Noxema. Maybe a Milk of Magnesia bottle?? The picture does not do it justice - believe me.

The gray piece is such a marvellous shape. It is thicker as well. I wonder where it came from? Maybe glass from a ship???

The 'lightening bolt" clear piece is so ... dare I say (at my age :) ) .... funky!!!!!!

I am so excited about experimenting with making more earrings from the drilled pieces. It is very difficult to find two pieces that match each other - you don't want them to match perfectly, I know - some people, like Pete, never wear earrings that match! She is so cool!

These are the first drilled beach glass earrings that I have done.

I just sent in samples of my beach glass jewellery to the Craft Council for the jury process! I am so nervous but excited. Wish me luck!!!

Take care,
Andrea

Harmony Balls and the Farmer's Market

Hi,

I have been really busy getting ready for the Farmer's Market this Saturday in St. John's. I only got to attend once last year, so I am excited about trying it out again this year. They only allow 2 jewellery tables each Saturday, so all of the jewellery designers were put on a rotation. That is only fair. The Farmer's Market is so interesting. There are so many different products - from produce to foods to different craft items. Everything is hand-made which makes it so great!!!

I am hoping to be able to spread the word about my "Gems From the Sea" - the beach glass jewellery. I have finally had success with drilling holes in the beach glass!!!!! It has taken a lot of trial and error - mostly error (in broken pieces :( ) - but I guess that is the best way to learn. The pieces are fantastic. Pictures do not do them justice.

Check out the site and the Farmer's Market.

Have a great day! Congratulations to the teachers and students who are finishing off another school year!!!! I miss my students!

Website is a go!!!!

Kar
Finally, the website has been launched. It has been a long process, but hopefully, will be well worth the effort. Thanks again to Peter Sansome for the webdesign. Thank you to Katja (KM Designs) km designs on the wonderful job that she did with the logo for Karlande Designs.

Thank you to everyone who offered support and encouragement through this process.

I also got signs done for my car doors. I am very pleased with the results.
